Catch me if you can, digital age edition

Evan Ratliff, a writer for Wired magazine decided to “go missing” in August as part of a contest. His phone call activity, email and other activities would be logged by WIRED, and he’d continue to use Facebook, Twitter and the like. But without revealing his location.

I’m going missing. I’m leaving behind friends, family, and everything familiar, and I’m challenging you to find me. If you do, you’ll win $5,000 and get your picture in Wired.

Evan was located 27 days after he disappeared, using a combination of “IP tracking, fem-bots, fake names and much more”. Here is Wired Magazine’s summary of the amazing high-tech hunt.
