Though I personally have a 250 GB Maxtor (similar to the one shown in your pic) and now a 500 GB Western Digital, yet I would suggest that a small portable 2.5" external should be a must bcos of its ease of use without external power cables being required... Remember that we have only one plug below our seats in the classrooms and how difficult it is to find plug points in library, computer centre etc. A non-power cable portable 2.5" comes very handy in those circumstances...
